Tickets: Guinness Cork Jazz Festival 2018

Founded in 1978, the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival is one of Europe’s biggest jazz events, welcoming thousands of music lovers to Ireland’s southern coast every October. If you love bop, swing, blues or ragtime music, the festival offers a musical feast that you won’t want to miss.

Over the years, the festival has hosted some incredible acts including Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, and Herbie Hancock. By balancing established acts with new names, the organisers have always managed to keep the jazz festival fresh and relevant.

What to expect in 2018

This year’s event runs from 25-29 October and has attracted a host of stars from across the musical spectrum. From the rich soul vocals of Laura Mvula or the percussion chops of Bill Cobham to the Thelonious Monk-influenced piano works of Fred Hersch and his trio, there will be performances to suit all jazz fans.

Events will take place across the city of Cork, including in venues like the Everyman, the Curtis Auditorium and Cork City Hall. We recommend checking the schedules carefully before you buy as every night will see a number of stellar performances.

The Triskel ECM Weekend will also run alongside the main festival, offering a specially curated selection of jazz-related films, the opportunity to see a range of contemporary acts and a vibrant pop-up record store where you can stock up on your favourite vinyls.
